Does anyone know if they are legal in the US - I presume so - whether or not they damage your rim or tire - in the least - and whether or not they can be used on non-snow or ice covered roadways - should your commute be between areas with and without snow and ice?

Wonder if they'll work with the 20" Style 301 run-flat setup...

Reason for asking: A shop said all BMW from 2009+ does not have the TPMS on the wheel but on the car itself. I kinda doubt what he claimed so just want to make sure from you guys.

FYI: Asia right hand drive car, Hong Kong to be exact. Some suggest only US cars have them.

Still in the process of deciding which rims to get and wonder if I need TPMS or not.

Hey folks,

Thinking of upgrading from my 2005 E500 4matic. I need something bigger, and am seriously thinking about the 740I. However - being in NJ, am very concerned about not having AWD.

Couple of questions - have those of you who live in snow areas w/ RWD cars had good luck w/ a good pair of snow tires?

For those of you w/ the 750IX - i drive roughly 20-22K miles per year, i prefer to get some decent mpg (thus the interest in the 740i), but what are you getting with the 750IX? If you have the 740I, what is your mpg? I get 20mpg on my e-class, mainly hwy driving...curious what some realtime mpg numbers are for both models...

Finally - just want to confirm - do these cars have the 6 speed or 8 speed tranny?

I read some folks getting 10-13K off sticker in may 2010, were there rebates because right now i'm not seeing any online...

I will take any advice given, this could be my first bimmer...

thx in advance

Hello all. Hope all is well.

I have decided to do European Delivery and my saleswoman stated she received word that my preliminary tentative delivery date is October 18th.

However, I called BMW today to obtain a production status update and was told that the order has been "accepted by germany" (production status 111), that the next step is "daily production pack", which takes between 2 and 3 weeks, and the step thereafter is "production", which takes between 1 and 1 and a 1/2 weeks.

Considering the longest duration for the timing left and rounding up same, I get 5 weeks from now, which takes me to September 30th, 2 and a 1/2 weeks away from the aforesaid October date.

Does anyone have any insight as to the discrepancy between the two dates? I have calls into both my saleswoman and BMW European Delivery.

Thank you!
