The whole point of an LCI is to refresh what otherwise be a stagnating design in order to extend the product cycle of the car by a few more years. Most car manufacturers do this with almost all of their models: Audi, Mercedes, Ford, Porsche, Lexus, Infiniti, Honda, Lamborghini, Nissan, and others all regularly refresh their model lineup with minor updates about 66-75% of the way through their products' life cycles.
Engineers and designers can't create products that remain relevant for 6-8 years. These refreshes are cost-effective stopgap measures that keep these cars competitive for as long as possible before the manufacturers have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to bring their brand new replacements to market.
