Three reasons why this engine configuration doesn't make more power even though it has the potential to:
1) Look at where the model is destined for... the Middle East. Do you think cooling might be a problem for such a powerful car? Yes, there are more powerful cars that get sold out in the middle east and even the Merc Brarbus V12 bi-turbo, but perhaps BMW haven't figured out the cooling bit yet i.e. there isn't a happy medium when considering bodywork design, and adding weight through use of oil and inter-coolers.
2) The 7 series, IMO, is a top-of-the-range luxury car. Perhaps the smoothest throttle mapping can only be achieved using this engine map which means lower power/torque?
3) Why would they tune it to it's full potential, or even near it, when the M7 maybe coming. Surely this is when we will see 600+HP/trq.
