Yes, There are hidden points to use one on the roof and when you go to the BMW shop and I put my VIN in, it is one of the few options you can get...
That may help greatly then, I'll see what else I can find about the roof rack in my user manual and post anything I find as this seems an option for you.
EDIT: confirmed, available on the 7. Manual shows this and how to fit one.
