The 2VB option code is the TPM/RDC (direct) system that uses the sensors in each wheel that sends data to the RDC control module which eventually sends tire pressure and tire temp to the iDrive screen.

From your coding attempts…it appears you did remove the 2VB/TPM/RDC system since you say you saw the FTM/RPA (indirect) writing appear on the screen. At this point, the RDC control unit was no longer receiving data from the sensors in the 4 wheels. At this point, did you RESET/REINITIALIZE the FTM system to see if the light would go out?

When the idrive screen displayed FTM, your tire inflation should have been registering by the rotation of your wheels and the ABS sensors sending data through the DSC module…then onto your iDrive screen.

But it appears you “fixed” it by pulling the fuse. To anyone wanting to switch from the direct to the indirect system due to not wanting to deal with the TPMS sensors in the wheels but would STILL like to have a warning if one of your tires started to lose pressure by way of the INDIRECT FTM/RPA system…then do NOT pull the fuse…but find the correct way to switch systems. But again, if you don’t need or want any low tire pressure warning at all…then by all means…feel free to remove the fuse.

And if you sell the vehicle…please reinsert the fuse and code one or the other systems TPM/RDC or FTM/RPA so the next owner won’t be pulling their hair out trying to figure out what’s wrong with the car. .
