Thanks everyone for your replies and feedback. I've confirmed that when ordering a 7 you can specify/choose the wheel/tire setup you want. Unless you special order one, the 7's where delivered to the dealers in both configurations and if you were not aware of the difference you could get a set of squared up 245's on 19's.
So Wavy's door plaque pretty much solves the mystery of the "Appropriate Tire Size". Both the squared up and staggered sets are correct.
