AFAIK you can't. There are some wires inside the cradle. You might be able to take it out and stuff the cables inside the console, but that might leave some gaping holes inside the compartment...
What are you going to use the space for anyway?
I keep my sunglasses inside the compartment and the 64GB USB stick for my music is in there... other than that, I hardly ever put anything else into the center armrest compartment.
