you will be surprised how much they make on service. a dealer can sell only a few cars a month and do really well with a busy service & parts dept. reason being is the franchise is exclusive to a certain geographic area with most manufacturers and there is a percentage of newer car owners that prefer to have their car serviced at the dealer. Also, some parts just can't be ordered in the aftermarket.
