My father had a F01 for a period and i spent a long amount of time in it as both driver and passenger. Very decent place to be in to not feel anything that's out there. In other words very S-Class-ish and since S-Class makes you feel old, the F01 did the same to me. I'm not sure when exactly BMW decided to kill the sporty soul of the 7-Series' (I grew up in the back seat of E32 750iL, i'm familiar with sporty luxurious BMW used to make), but this car just doesn't have that feel you could feel in previous generations.
As for the XJ it has been 4 months that i acquired a XJ for DD'ing. Even though it's a diesel, it's still a far more fun/better driver car than that 400hp 7-Series. It's more engaging and it feels smaller yet it's huge just like the BMW. There are a few Jaguar signatures such as the faulty interface. Electronic glitches etc... But overall i'm completely satisfied with it even though i sometimes feel i should've got the 5.0 model.
