Exclamation New Autobahn signs...

Recently there are some new Autobahn signs popping up on the A9 and A93 Autobahns...

Do you know what they mean/designate?

These new round, black and white characters are not intended for drivers - but for cars! They are marking the digital test area for autonomous self driving cars on the Autobahn. BMW and Audi are using certain areas on the A9 and A93 Autobahns to test their latest technology: Autopilot.

The digital test area is located between Munich and Ingolstadt.

The area is on the A9 just North of Munich, between "Pfaffenhofen" and the Autobahnkreuz "Holledau" area. And than also on the A93 near the Ausfahrt "Wolnzach". Both directions of the Autobahn have these new signs for the test cars.

Recently I was driving with a German friend of mine from Munich and he asked me IF I knew what these signs were for. I had no idea. But Google did! I found this info from BF.de a German news channel/website.
