I'm not a lawyer but seem to recall something in reading about lemon laws regarding the length of time a car can be in service. I know the laws differ from state to state, but I'd look into whether NJ has any provision regarding the perpetuity of service (aside from just the pure number of attempts to fix it). 30+ days sounds like it's getting up there - maybe not enough to trip a threshold yet, but it certainly seems like it's becoming irrational.
