If you are talking about the S65 being miles away in the BMW's rear view mirror, your absolutely right

Just Joking

But if you look at the premium you pay for the S63 or the S65 and how many they sell, just like the SLR...

Besides the S63 and S65 are AMG versions, so in all fairness, you would have to compare those to M versions of the BMW (if they ever decide to come out with M versions of the 750 and 760)!

So as you said, you should compare the 750 with the EQUIVALENT car from MB and that means you have to compare the 750 to a regular car and NOT the AMG versions! After all, the AMG versions are tuned versions and the regular 750 is NOT. So IMHO, you would have to compare the 750 to the S550 (about the same HP/Torque). The 750 has 400 hp @ 5500 rpm and 450 lb-ft @ 1750–4500rpm, the S550 has 382 hp @ 6000 rpm and 391 lb-ft @ 2,800-4,800 rpm. The 750 does the run of 0-100km/h in 5.2 sec the S550 in 5.4 sec. So those are pretty close in engine performance and acceleration. Now technologically speaking, the BMW is an entire generation ahead (since it is a new model and the MB is a few years old), but this will get evened out with the next generation S series.

I found it absolutely hilarious when the sales guy at MB told me that in this latest (2009) model year of the S class, you can now control the radio or CD via voice control and it FINALLY has Bluetooth integration. My other BMW and previous car had that feature for many years. The S class still doesn't have an entertainment system for the rear seats.

Then there is the base price difference and once you add all the equivalent options between the BMW and the MB (again 750 vs. S550), you save a BUNDLE (we are talking $40k-$50k). I find it funny when people compare cars but don't consider all the REAL differences!

Now for those that still want to compare the standard 750 vs the S63, they SHOULD really compare the S63 to the Alpina B7 (or an M version of the 750 if they ever decide to make one). But then again, you are still comparing a 4.4l vs 6.2l engine and an $80k+ 750 vs a $130k+ S63... get the point?
