I can only tell you my experience with this. I spent $2700 on the warranty when my E63 M6 had 48K miles on it. I did this on the maintenance warranty, as well, which cost about $1500. I ended up going through 2 additional maintenance cycles on the maintenance warranty which saved me about $750-850 over the 2 year period. Here is the kicker...I had the dreaded rod-bearing problem at 72K miles. BMW give me a new, not refurbished...NEW S85 V10 for a total of $54.95. Quotes by others on the replacement at the time ranged from $25K to $50K. This was the best warranty decision I've ever made.

They did the same thing on the i8 when I had a 21 day-long maintenance/repair done. Grand total was just under $11K. I'm a BMW loyalist for a reason. I've saved the cost of another M6 thus far in my BMW ownership experiences.

Good luck in your decisions.
