You're also discounting oil changes, maintenance and other operating costs that again heavily favor the Tesla in this comparison.

Toyotas are very reliable. I did only put gas and oil in it, but all the service was dealer provided. I replaced tires at 55,000 miles which I would have had to replace sooner in the Tesla and since they are larger would have been more expensive. I owned the Avalon for 70,000 miles. I get what you’re saying about performance, but other than that, you’d be surprised how well equipped the Avalon is. In my mind there isn’t $30k more value in the Tesla, but that’s my opinion. And I did make a mistake, you can still get a base Model S for $70k.
