I now have a 2010 750li that I traded my M5 in for on November 1st of this year. The 750 is a certified pre-owned car.

From day one I have felt that the car ran rough and I felt a vibration throughout the car, throttle etc. Just didn't feel like how a 750 should run - smooth and flawless.

After driving the car for 1000 miles the low oil light came on, so I added a quart.. A week later the car asked for another quart. At this point, the oil consumption is way excessive. I had an M5 that I ran on the track and it didn't consume that much oil.

Anyway, first time I bring it to the dealer and tell them about my issue with the oil. The tech agrees it's running rough, excessive consumption, and that it could possibly be a clogged breather in the engine. So they didn't do anything about it except advise me to come right in again when it asks for more oil.

After 600 miles my engine dipstick is already half down, and by 1000 miles the car reads below minimum. I bring the car back in for the second time, they top it off, and then the service manager says the oil consumption is actually normal for that year 750, and there is in fact a bulletin. Says he checked for codes and nothing came up (even though drivetrain malfunction came on twice since last service) Now I'm getting annoyed.

Car still running like crap and getting worse. Engine malfunction came on 4 times more and I had enough.

Brought the car in again for the third time, and they find the Vanos solenoid was bad. Didn't top my oil off (that was already a half quart low)

Now today I brought my car in for the 4th time for more oil. At minimum again in 1200 miles.. I mention the oil consumption is ridiculous, and ask about the possible breather clogging issue. He brushed it off again and said it's normal for that year, there's a bulletin Then he tells me that last time they OVERFILLED the car 2 quarts of oil, and they just overfilled it again with 2 quarts. Is that supposed to make me feel better? So that means my car is consuming 2 quarts of oil every 1200 miles.

I'm getting really angry over this. I've been lied to from this service manager for the last three times dealing with him.

Now I know he's full of it, because there's no way you can overfill these cars without doing damage, or some warning light appearing. I ask him to give me a copy of the "bulletin". He says no problem, follow me.

At the same time I ask him to please give me a record of my oil being topped off because he had failed to do that previously, and this time. He tells me he'll put it in his "notes" and email me the bulletin because it was on his desktop but someone switched his computer and now he doesn't have access to it anymore.

Does this sound right to you guys? I'm at my wits end with this dealership
Look, the 750 will drink oil. But, Only if you drive it hard.

BMW is not using the correct test for oil consumption. The correct test should include the amount of fuel consumed over the same period.

If you drive a normal engine that really has no problems and it drinks a quart every 750 miles, then you should also notice your tank of gas requiring refill every 100 miles. That's over 7 tanks of gas! This would show the engine being driven hard.

But, if you drive 750 miles and you lose a quart of oil and you only filled up your tank of gas twice, then clearly your not driving the engine hard and the oil was over consumed.
