I have had a few 7 series in the past - the last one being a 2007 750i which was truly problem free. I'm thinking of getting another 7 series now and I have a chance to get a new 2015 740il for what I think is a good price. I'm concerned because it is a 6-cylinder engine and I'm used to the 8-cylinders of the older 7's, but I guess I could live with the higher rpms to achieve the acceleration I want.

My real question is has anyone had any bad experiences (or good) with the engine in the 740 - I'm guessing it is some N55 variant.
