Checked back on this poll today and it's funny how this is a BMW forum and the BMW is losing 3:1. I went to the dealer yesterday for service and I saw an i8 in the showroom and the MSRP was 154K USD!!! My mind started wandering and thinking about all the options I could be having for 154K.
AMG GTS
Nissan GT-R (still have a good chunk of change)
911 GT3 (still have some change)
Aston Martin Vantage V8 (still have 20+k change)
R8
Heck, I'd buy cars 50k cheaper than the i8 even if they were to cost the same like
F-Type V8 R Coupe/Vert
Lotus Evora (whichever one is the top model)
Fully optioned Cayman GT4
Tesla P85D
Corvette Stingray Z06
Viper SRT 10
If I were to spend my cash "wisely" on cars only, I'll get a CLK 63 AMG BS and a stripper 1M in black. If there's any change left, I'll mod my 135.
IMO the i8 is the victim of high expectations but that's fair given its price and the relatively recent release of the extreme potential in hybrid cars (evident in 918, P1, LaFerrari). Turns out an M4 will give it a run for its money...I'm not sure about fuel consumption/running costs though.
