1. For me it was a no brainer. I have two kids and they LOVE the system. I see you are in Canada, if you get the rear entertainment system, it comes with the additional iDrive controller. It takes a bit to get used to the DVD controls but once you figure it out, it's simple. I have posted pictures and a few additional information in my thread (use the link below if you are interested).
2. The color is fixed and I find the orange glow soothing and it doesn't distract you... I find that what some other manufacturers build into their cars where you can change the ambient light color a total gimmick. How often do you honestly going to change the ambient light color??? I sure hope that BMW is NOT going down this road.
