I used to have a Merc and didn't like it coming on the front automatically because it was always beeping in stop go traffic, especially when the weather was very hot.
I guess when you face a blank wall during parking, like the inside of your garage, the automatic activation whould be nice. I always reverse park my BMW so it comes on automatically for my daily parking...
