The Dark Tower movie was never intended as an adaptation of the books; it is more like a reset or new iteration of the eternal quest (if you finished the books you know what that means, if not I'm trying to avoid spoilers

The TV series should cover similar occurrences but again it won't mirror the books as it is a "new" story.
