Now, I am not a fan of ASS. I think it adds stress and that over time the indirect cost of this stress completely offsets any real gains of ASS.

However, I am totally intrigued by sailing mode. Now, this is beautifully implemented in my new 2013 f01 I just picked up about a month ago.

It is ingenious.

Basically, put the car in Eco Pro and when you take your foot off the accelerator the car silently shifts into neutral at speed. You can see the tach drop to idle when sail mode is active.

In theory, you could coast down hill for miles and gain a huge bonus.

Now, the moment you step on the brake at speed, the tach will increase from idle to an rpm consistent with being in gear.

This transition is so smooth.

So, below 30 mph the system remains in gear giving you the benefit of engine braking.

But, when sailing in neutral, the car has no engine braking factor, thus you really are sailing.

You guys have to try it. It is so cool.

The only downside, is I question why you have to be in ECO PRO as you should be able to sail in any damper configuration.
