BMW was very hesitant to bring the X1 to America. It has been deployed in EU a couple years, testing the market before bringing it to America. I think BMW made the right decision bring the X1 to the States, because I see a lot of them on the road.

I had the X1 loaner, it's not so bad. It's a compact, watered down BMW, and it drives like a golf cart (light and nimble). It's a good vehicle for those who wants something more practical than a 3 series, without losing drivability. If you're in a market for a Subaru Outback, the X1 is the luxury alternative.
