Dude, I agree.
I got so much shit from my mother on every turn, for that alone I would keep the contact as minimal, but after my dad died a lot of extra shit went down the adult me will never forget either. Now I count as my family the people I love, and they are that even no blood relations would be there. My family expands all the time, and I could not be happier about being free from pretending blood is thicker than water.
