umm.....now you KNOW that it is coming and yes, it IS a real big change - how can you tell him not to wait for it? I could imagine that it well be available in X6 from march09 but don't know. Just ask your dealer to find out the exakt date. Thats the minimum service the dealer can do for a guy buying SUCH a expensive car...
And be sure the new version won't be outdated within the next 5-7 years as it gets firmware-updates.
And especially the new iDrive2 is a component-based system which allows to upgrade things within time, e.g. it should be possible to upgrade from EDGE to UMTS within 1-2 years.
