It's meant to be a prequel; there was an article on Jalopnik about it several weeks ago.
I've got mixed feelings about Jason Statham not being in it.
Only the first Transporter had BMW in it (naturally that is my favorite Transporter); the last 2 had Audi.
I'm sure it'll still be badass but I really like Jason Statham so this new actor has some big shoes to fill.
