welcome to the forum!
1) I have not experienced any odd/strange smells in or from my car. If you are unsure of what that smell is and it happens all the time, I would bring it back to the dealership and have them look into it right away!
2) As far as I know, there is no way of having the turn signal indicator arrows displayed on the HUD.
What you can try is to send a suggestion to BMW via email and hope that they will include this option/feature so that you can select it through your HUD settings in a future software upgrade?!?
