I purchased an extended warranty from Route 66 through my credit union. Cheaper than BMW and covers for longer time period. I've had very good luck with this warranty. It covered the replacement of my timing chain on my 528i. Basically paid for itself since that was a $3000 repair. They covered the whole thing, no questions asked.
