My grandmother (Mareinne) was from Antwerp but moved to Brugge after WW2. She would make the best frietjes in the world. On Sunday, we would go over to her house and she'd be cutting potatoes by hand, and making her own mayonnaise. We'd have a nice steak tartare and eat like kings. Still, to this day, I've never had better.
