I7 - odd issues

Just got the 2024 i7 and so far it’s been amazing except for the following 2 issues. Has anyone else had these issues? If so please respond and let me know how you corrected them. They are:

1) the car came with the time set to New York which is the region I am in. However I tried to switch it to automatic time setting. Every time I do that it automatically switches my location to thinking I’m in Brazil!! Then I uncheck auto and just manually put back New York. Very strange

2) sometimes when I’m on a Bluetooth call the other person on the other end of the call will tell me they can’t hear me. I then need to go into the phone settings while on the call and set the speaker to “whole auto” I have done this several times but it keeps reverting back. Does anyone know why or what is going on??? Please advise. Greatly appreciated.

#1 is a super common occurrence that is afflicting a lot of drivers of different models. Many have noticed since the DST switchover that the auto time zone setting puts them in some far off place.

I had to manually enter the time rather than select a specific time zone, which the car says is not now an available function. Odd; software fix hopefully coming.

#2) I had same issue with bluetooth on my 2024 i7
The dealer needed to "Reconfigure or reprogram" something that was not set right at the factory. All good since then

I had other weird things like over air software updated were not working. it would say "In Progress" but never was. That was fixed too.

Interesting so when you go into the audio settings while on an actual call does the default show whole car front or rear for the sound?
I have also had issues downloading things they just get stuck for days in the system notifications list. I have also experienced intermittent issues with seeing photos from the app. Sometimes it works and sometimes it just says error

I noticed people can’t always hear me well when using Bluetooth. When swinging to apple car play it would be perfect. But my car decides if it wants to be in car play or normal Bluetooth on its own. The buggiest bimmer I’ve owned so far with this aspect.

Make sure your phone settings microphone is not focused on rear passenger.but instead on front / driver. I'm not sure if you have to be actively a call to make that change. Not sure if that addresses your issue.also, when in phone mode, go to settings then mobile devices then uncheck "rear". Maybe either or both.of above will remedy your issue.

Yes I have done that the problem is it keeps reverting back to rear only.

Any word on when they will fix the auto time function?

I don't use carplay or AndroidAuto. The above fixed things for me. Perhaps ask the idrive specialist at the dealership...

Gemini7866, thank you for posting that service worksheet. If going to the dealer for necessary things, I'd ask them to do the time zone fix. Otherwise, takes just 30 seconds at home to manually adjust every 6 months / daylight savings switch. I'd hope BMW just has a simple OTA tix... I'd really like it once they let us rearrange shortcuts in the order we want!

While we're all at it, can the driver adjust the front passenger seat position to slide fore and aft? I know we can adjust seat "shape" and massage but I'd like to be able to slide the seat back and forth on the horizontal plane, to reduce the b-pillar blind spot when driving alone.

This was an option in my last three 7 Series (and Ghost too).

Is this no longer doable in the new/current 7? I have not tried this yet.

Mine allows me to. The rear right passenger can too.

I do this as well, and can only be done on the screen now, after pushing the shortcut for the seat controls. Unlike last gen 7 series where you could just push a button to select the passenger side then adjust with the manual controls., which would have been nice.

Hmm... I don't see that ability / option in any of the menus. Can you please be very specific as to how you as driver can adjust the passenger seat fore and aft without manually using the physical control hard buttons on the passenger's door? Thank you.
