991 Porsche 911 GT3 Video around Figure 8
Very interesting video of Carlos Lago doing a POV drive around their figure 8 with some talk about the lateral limits and how the Z06/7 is better:

This just goes to show how different reviewers see cars slightly differently. Most who have reviewed the GT3 gush about it. Carlos liked it but had more issue with it than some.
Regardless, one of my favourite cars today

Seems like the M4 has similar tradeoffs: track monster but not as much lateral as the Z06/7 or other cars. |

The Z06 also has 335 rears as opposed to the GT3's 305's (so quite a bit more contact patch) and he did say the Z06 was harder to work. |

Likely due in most part to WAY more torque which is always a bit more tricky to manage.

That certainly would also be a factor. The Z06 has never been nearly as precise a driver's tool as a GT3 and I'm sure this generation will be no different. Even the Stingray is rather numb and lacks in this department; I don't see the Z06 being any better especially seeing as its only gotten heavier.

I have not yet driven the 991 GT3, but it looked very loose. I am not sure if Carlos was really was trying there.
No question, the Z06 will be faster on track properly driven, especially if they solve the software timing issue. |

I am looking forward to seeing the new ZO6 on track, even if it's only for a second while it blows by me. |

Simply not a vette fan...still think its a pretty numb car especially when you take it out of isolation. I feel bad for the z06, its been taking a flat out beating by the Viper TA...doesnt seem like chevy moved much on from the zr1 which itself wasn't a great car. And if Porsche comes out with a 991 GT2/RS its going to flat out crush the z06 as even the 997 GT2 RS looks like it would be able to beat the current z06 despite being quite old. |

The C7 is a scalpel compared to the M3/4... and to call it "numb" compared to a 991s is, well, not true and I don't think anyone who has spent time in both cars would say that. They may say they prefer the 991s from a feel perspective but the C7 is FAR from numb in comparison. Bottom line, however, is it doesn't matter what I think as I know you have a negative bias to the Corvette... which is perfectly OK too. P.S. Not sure where you are getting a TA "flat out beating" the Z06 (well maybe in a straight line but who cares about that anyway). If a GT2/RS beats the Z06 for twice the money, that's OK in my books... they will be pretty darn close in performance

Dat understeer and lift off oversteer. Still very much an old school 911 at heart

I'm sure they are, I was a fan of the 991s I test drove. But the vid above clearly shows steady state understeer under throttle and a tendency to oversteer entering too hot in the corner.

I'm guessing this was a combination of the surface, and likely worn tires. It still was able to post one of the fastest times at 22.8, in which Lago pointed out there is more time. The Z06 on the other hand he said was not as easy to control as the GT3 and despite having nearly 200 hp more could was not much faster than the GT3 given it has more time in it at 22.5. |
