OT but did anyone else notice that the letters/numbers on the license plate on the pic of the blue 7 series at a quarter angle?

is it only me or the rear looks very similar to the new Audi A8?
S-class is still the benchmark and looks like BMW didn't even bother to unseat the king with this 7.

The new 7 looks pretty good in M-sport trim, though there are a few aspects I prefer on the previous model, most notably the interior design. I like the integrated look of the LCD screen over the tacked on iPhone look of the screens in recent BMWs.

Overall a heavy evolution of the F01
When you look closely there are a lot of things changed , although mild in terms of design a lot of new stuff underneath though It appears that the roof has been stretched on the G11 and from certain angles it looks a bit like a hatchback compared to the F01 , is this odd or more practical? If you ask me I say more space in the back and the whole side of the car appears to be somehow stretched and long , and it is a longer car swb is now 5,10m! (E39 4,98m) but somehow the width is the same from e66 1902mm , F01 1902mm and now G11 1902mm (that's really interesting!)..The F01 had a more muscular rear imo , the interior design is really good , although I expected more , at least the secondary lcd for the front passenger , or a full digital bigger cluster with redesigned font numbers and letters , the interior lightning and roof really kick ass , and the fragrance ? that's really cool but so untypical for bmw. Overall big step forward here , however there is a V12 missing , or something more potent to compete against the S65 AMG. IMO BMW needs an 8series a big 2 door coupe similar to the S Class Coupe...If S class coupe sells then so should the 8 series. There is clearly a market for this kind of car. No doubt in my mind. It's really ming boggling for me that bmw can't see that... |

An improvement all around apart from the front, in my eyes. Do not like the front at all.
Not fully convinced about the lights-joining-grille across the entire range really. 3 and 4 just about pull it off, rest look a bit Chinese made. |

Damn it BMW. Why would you develop a technological and quality masterpiece and make it look like a a photo enlarged 3. PLEASE stop this cautious crap. Go 21st century. It WILL sell.

As for the tech; Quattro is surefooted but not as driver oriented as Xdrive and the MMI system is a shameful copy of idrive with buttons (which BMW later copied) but is not intuitive or fluid to use. The brand of Audi is well marketed and the fact that it is an alternative to the Mercedes and BMW stereotypes gives it credence and customer appeal. There; I am now ready for the onslaught of aggressive responses. |

I will admit... Seeing them side by side one can better distinguish the "subtle updates".
That being said, I like it better than before now that I've seen many angles and colors. The highpoint of the entire vehicle is the interior, particularly on the INDIVIDUAL model (as expected). The front end is too 3 & 4ish looking which sucks! And the rear actually looks a lot like the new A8. So nothing new and invigorating outside at all for me. It could and should have been soooo much nicer! It is also very "gimmicky" with the 'hand gesture coontrol' etc. For once though, I believe that the 7 looks better in Darker colors/shades. Which has never been the case for me previously. |

seriously...the only issue with BMW in my opinion is that once the new model comes out, the previous one looks soooo outdated!!!
