Lightbulb Kinesiology Tape

By now we have all seen and maybe even used some of this amazing stretchy "second skin"!
I actually just tried some for a recurring brutal elbow pain from a triceps workout. Most likely, hyper-extended the tendon that connects from my elbow to triceps. Pain was going on for a good 2 weeks. My PT placed some kinesio tape and within 2 days the pain went from a solid 8-10 to a 1-2! I can see now why this stuff is so widely used especially among athletes! My therapist has shown me how to place and anchor it correctly for maximum benefit for the most common muscle groups effected.

Anyone else have success using this? Discuss...

Yes....used it on my shoulder and lower back. Only when competing as that when those areas needed the most support and reinforcement. Also some brands are better then others for how much stick they have and how long they stay on, especially if you are sweating. I am particular to RockTape brand. It also needs to be applied correctly or it’s useless.

Yep, lots of experience unfortunately. I seem to hurt myself a lot. Combined with PT, chiro, massage, myofascial work, etc. it's a great tool in the toolbox and really does help.

Some of the tapes contain latex in the adhesives so watch out if you are sensitive to it like I am. Can leave a red mark for a week or more after you remove it!

Excellent point! Can even cause blisters from the amount of stickiness and pulling of the skin. If not applied correctly.

Used it regularly on my shoulders and am thinking about using it for my elbow (tennis elbow).

That sh*t sucks! I had "golfer's elbow" last summer. Never golfed a damn day in my life.

Too much motorcycle riding with the pressure and vibration coming up through my my arms into that joint. Took about 6 months and a bunch of PT sessions for it to finally go away.

Too much turning wrenches in my spare time and working on the house I guess....

Good stuff for certain problems. Can't emphasize enough how important it is to have a pro show you how to use it - like any therapeutic, it can cause problems if you don't use correctly (deceptively simple to apply). And also kudos for that later bit about the weightlifting - get a true pro (not just that stacked guy at the juice counter) to show you good technique. The effects of poor lifting form don't show until long after, but they are vicious.

I have tennis elbow (tendinitis). Best thing is support. I bought this elbow sleep that have some copper technology. Whether the copper technology is helping or not, I know for fact that the support works really good. Recently, I fell on the stairs and landed hard on my right knee. Bought another knee support called Futura. Wearing it daily and taking it off during sleep helped the swelling and the pain decrease from 9 down to 0.
