^ Here is what he meant: usually when couples get married they register at a store or stores and pick what they want/need. Their guests can then go to those sites/stores and buy from that list and have it shipped either directly to the couple or to their own home and later on give it to the couple.
In my opinion you should get them some china or silverware. I got my friends a set of china and they loved it. It was one of the items they registered and they use it every day. So either pick something from their list or buy something practical. |

Ask if they are "registered anywhere." That means they go to a store and compile a list of gifts they want so that people don't have to guess or get them things they don't want. Most stores have websites where you can order through and tey will ship the gift to them. If you have it sent, you don't have to worry about dragging a gift to the wedding.

Not sure the rule of thumb for the amount of your gift but I always try to base it on the amount it cost them to pay for my place setting at dinner. If it's family or close friends, my minimum for the present (usually cash and I'm Asian ) is $100. Check here to see if they're registered http://www.weddingchannel.com/ Most people use this website. |

That's garbage!! Cheap bastards, especially they were a couple. I only give a $100 minimum if it's immediate family or a really close friend.

OP, to be safe no lower than $50 but I would give $100. That should cover your dinner and drinks (if the couple is supplying an open bar). You don't wanna look cheap. BTW, weddings are always a good time!!! One big party! |

Apparently some people didn't care. We got shit for cash. more than 50% of our cash came from 10 people on my side. We had 175 people.
