Looks like they are going back to the light/silver chrome bumper trim on the M Sport instead of the dark/black chrome?

BMW, that's a joke!
My dad is shattered! He bought a brand new imperial blue 740i with M sport package, 20" alloys and some individual options in July 2011 and it's already obsolete! lol. He paid $224,000 Australian dollars for it.
I told him at least be happy, yours has the twin-turbo N54 which sounds better, responds better and produces an extra 5kw over the N55 in the LCI 7series.. 240kw vs. 235kw. Yours has real dial gauges with needles that's a big plus.. |

Engineers and designers can't create products that remain relevant for 6-8 years. These refreshes are cost-effective stopgap measures that keep these cars competitive for as long as possible before the manufacturers have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to bring their brand new replacements to market.

Has nobody else noticed the 750d? It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the press release but the pictures of the white car seem legit... they have the oval exhaust like the M550d if you look closely!

How come the m-sport has different headlights? Are those standard and the full LED ones an option?
I was never a fan of the chrome strip on the pre-LCI but I don't really like the new vents also. I don't think it's a huge upgrade. I think if they did more they would sway some customers that were planning on switching to the 6er GC. The one thing that I think that the 7 has over the S-class hands down is the profile. The 7 to me looks much nicer from this view.

Perhaps in some markets Individual High-gloss ShadowLine pack will be a standard part of M-Sport pack. But in Germany it is not. Therefore silver chrome inserts on the car with M-Sport pack in the official press pics. So, black chrome inserts are still available on LCI 7er as well. Regarding the thickness of corona rings: they are thick because they not only function as Daytime Running Lights now, but also as main beam (adaptive) light projectors!!! Therefore larger & more powerful LEDs are incorporated in / behind coronas, making the coronas thicker. You can see the corona light functions in the 1st video (The Exterior) at the beginning of this very thread. Last edited by EnI; 05-25-2012 at 10:16 AM.. |

Two questions:
1) Will there be a sport automatic transmission with shift paddles option available as on the F10? 2) Any word from Alpina as to when the LCI changes will be incorporated into the B7? |

That really doesn't make much sense. By your logic, BMW could have left the F01 7 series as is claiming the original design was their planned LCI. The LCI isn't a strategy used solely by BMW. All manufacturers will update their currently available models at some point during their lifespan to keep the product fresh before an all new model is due to succeed it.

Anyone know if you can "set" the gauges? In other words, any way to make the "comfort" gauge setting appear no matter what the driving dynamics switch is placed in?
Wonder if you guys have hands on and can delve into the settings in iDrive and figure this out. I like the new digital gauges in Comfort, but hate the sport look and the Eco Pro look. Come to think of it, not sure I like the "magnifying glass" effect of the Comfort gauges either. Also, what type of nav info is displayed on the main screen? Would be cool if it popped up in some kind of prominent position. I showed these to my wife last night and she said "way too much information". I would presume these gauges would make an appearance in the new X5, which might totally turn the car off to her. Not good. |

But seriously, he didn't miss out on much just some extra chrome and new headlights outside. He still got a fantastic car. I agree that the gauges with real needles are a big plus. |

OMG those angle droopy eyes are killllliiinnnggggg mee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sooo hot
and are those rear seat entertainment screens tablets? they look pretty movable compared to the old ones that were built in. if so, well done! maybe 2 ipads, that'd be sick!!! plus is should be alot cheap since 2 ipads = $1000 versus i imagine $2400 for the 2 rear seat options currently available on the 2012 MY. (-$400 i imagine for the dvd changer) my $0.02 |

MUST be a matter of personal opinion, because to me the only thing amazing about the s class interior is how god-awful ugly it is. Same story with its EXterior. Hell same story with the entire m-b lineup interior and exterior...

750 xDrive is covered extensively in 61-page BMW factory press release. A really great machine with tri-turbo!

Really boring to look at, maybe alpina. These look like a car to take when you're going to play bingo or something. Not much to say

How come the N55 equipped 535i is slow 0-100km/h 6.1s? and the N54 equipped 740i does it in 5.8s? I know that the 7 series puts an extra 15kw and 50Nm but it's a lot heavier and it doesn't have the 8 speed auto like the 5 series.. It would be interesting to see if the new N55 740i can beat the N54 740i from 0-250km/h run! Quote:
Like AMG with E63, they initially produced it with a 6.2L V8 514hp, 13 months later you can pay the same amount and get it with a brand new 5.5L V8 twin-turbo that has a lot more technology in it and is more efficient and you can even get it with an AMG performance package that'll give you 556hp... I would have felt so bad if I was one of those unlucky people that bought it once it was out.. |

To get an S-Class to come even CLOSE to a 7-Series in Performance and Looks, you'd have to pay DOUBLE what a loaded 750Li costs! And I'm talking Lorinser or Brabus Exterior Packages with the overpriced Designo Interior Option.
MB can go f**k themselves these days. The ONLY cars they make that I'm actually interested in at the moment is the SLS and the upcoming SLC AMG. Your paying for the name when you buy a MB. The S-Class has SO many design flaws inside and out, it makes me puke! Nothing in this world is perfect, by my God! Both the new 7-Series LCI and Pre-LCI is as close to perfection as anyone can imagine! I'm putting in my order next year for a 2014 LCI. Probably an Alpina B7L X-Drive this time, as I already have a 2012 760Li that I'm completely in love with. The best just got even BETTER! : : |
