Sounds like a great deal. That's your initial depreciation back to you as a discount so well played

Global monthly atmospheric sulphur hexafluoride levels
The researchers found that SF6 emissions in China almost doubled from 2.6 gigagrams (Gg) per year in 2011, when they accounted for 34 percent of global SF6 emissions, to 5.1 Gg per year in 2021, when they accounted for 57 percent of global total SF6 emissions. This increase from China over the 10-year period — some of it emerging from the country’s less-populated western regions — was larger than the global total SF6 emissions rise, highlighting the importance of lowering SF6 emissions from China in the future. https://news.mit.edu/2024/atmospheri...oride-sf6-0328 I wonder if Sulphur compounds effect ground water? |

Denver man’s car bursts into flames, says he’s done with EV models
April 11, 2024 Isaac says just five months ago, he and his wife purchased a Chevy Bolt. “We thought it’d be a good gas saver, and they were offering a tax break on them,” he said, “so we went and bought the Chevy Bolt because it was the most affordable one we could get with the tax break.” Two weeks ago, it suddenly burst into flames in the middle of the night and the fire started spreading to their home. In the meantime, he’s purchased a new car, another EV, that his daughter refused to ride in, so he returned it for a gas-powered vehicle. “No more EV vehicles for me,” he said. https://www.yahoo.com/news/denver-ma...020428678.html |

This is such a niche situation, it's like "I won't take medication because I suffered a side effect which only occurs once in a few hundred thousand cases"
Grow up and open your eyes, ICE also have problems to blow up and stuff |

So how do they manage EV's up in Alaska? Heated garages? Okay with much shorter driving ranges, or not driving very far? Home charging? Staying plugged in at night to keep the battery warm? Sure, EV's can be adapted to "work" in cold weather, but compromises and management are involved.

At least two or three roll-on roll-off type automotive transport ships have sunk due to EV fires that couldn't be put out, possibly more. Sure, ICE vehicles can blow up and catch on fire, but tends to happen while actually driving them, and are much more easily extinguished. Now compare with an EV which can catch fire while turned off while in your garage and not even charging (or on a transport ship!), while also being orders of magnitude more difficult to extinguish. Big difference, and also far more dangerous. Don't hear of too many ICE cars randomly catching fire while parked in your garage and burning your entire house down.

- HALF the range or less of a typical ICE - Are heavier. - Way more expensive. - Way more depreciation. - Not completely understood fire risks and hazards. - Are NOT more efficient than ICE when pulling from a grid that's only 35-40% efficient by itself. - Cannot tow anything more than about 100 miles. - Have huge secondary environmental impact that EV proponents like to ignore or pretend don't exist. - Actually consume MORE energy than ICE due to being heavier, and overall net efficiency basically being a wash. - Are NOT going to "save the planet." But I just helped a family member buy a Tesla Model Y, because their specific life/circumstances were actually a good fit for one.

- They are not safe! Especially in comparison to the well-established horse-drawn carriages. - There will be “car accidents” and the potential for injuries or fatalities! Ever hear of a horse crash? Didnt think so. - They are noisy and emit pollutants, where horses are soothing and quieter. - They would require significant investments in infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, which would be costly and disruptive. If I don’t drive on it, I shouldn’t have to pay for it!! MAG!! - Everyone working in the horse and carriage industry, such as blacksmiths, carriage makers, and stable workers will immediately be fired and replaced with immigrant labor. From Ireland!!! - Nothing competes with the refined elegance of horse husbandry; the sound of a naturally aspirated thoroughbred, surrounded by majestic nature! I’ll never give that up. - As a rich businessman, am I supposed to hire a driver now ALSO? I already have a man for my horses and an excellent coach builder. Besides, theyre a failed design anyway.

apparently nobody wants EVs so I haggled the 40% and they accepted and so far (for me) it drives better than my M550i
didn't buy it to save the planet, bought it for the fun it gives (different type of fun - real life RC car experience) i understand it's a disposable like your iPhone but at 40% off I'm ok with that Last edited by G30M; 04-12-2024 at 09:24 PM.. |

Yup, happens all the time in Amish country
Upstate New York Woman Killed in Tragic Amish Buggy Crash A pick-up truck, driven by 31 year-old John Leathly of Chittenango, ran into the back of an Amish buggy on County Route 41 in the town of Richland, Oswego County on Sunday, June 6. This isn't the first fatal Amish buggy crash in Upstate New York. One man was killed and another was injured in a fatal crash in Gouverneur, New York. |

For similar reasons, I just helped an extended family member pickup a Model Y Long Range. It just happen to fit their lifestyle and driving needs quite well, the limitations and issues for the most part were a non-factor for them, and they got a killer deal on it with the price cuts and $5k extra on the hood. They're really enjoying it so far! I've seen exactly one Kia EV6 GT on the road here a few months ago, which possibly could have been a test drive and not a purchase, but nothing since then. I think people are spooked by the low advertised range, but if that isn't a factor by all means enjoy. I'm sure it's a hoot to drive! Just curious if you happen to know, but how many did they have sitting on the lot, and how long had they been sitting there for?
