Will delivered cars get CarPlay as an update?

Anyone have any information regarding CarPlay for the 7? So far, I've just seen mentions of the 2017 M3/M4 and X models even though the 7 already has the new iDrive 5.0. I know even Hyundai supplies software updates to older models to enable CarPlay.

Spotify doesn't display the names and crash frequently.
Carplay is a dream...

You buy it from the Connected Drive store - bought mine this week.

IIRC right now its only for wk27 onwards build but it should appear as cars software updates.

You have any more information about this? You are referring to Apple CarPlay? I do not see CarPlay as an option in the Connected Drive store.

That looks very cool, messaging and bluetooth audio control have been useless on the last few BM's I've had. Looking forward to some decent integration. If only apple would put some effort into carplay and add more features

I am expecting some good app announcements when iP7 and iOS 10 come next month,

Skype for Busines is "likely" which will help me no end. Thanks and iP7 wireless charging.

Oh and you can have FM / DAB playing and use car play which was a failing of other mfr's implementations.

Very happy about this! I am glad to hear it is a good implementation. You are probably one of the first people with CarPlay in a BMW.

Quick question, can you still use the iDrive knob or is it touch only? I don't touch this screen this very much because it isn't very ergonomic to do so.

Ask your dealer.... but it should be possible as a software update - and then purchase from the store the same as those of us on latest version of iD5.0

Would it not be the case if you registered your car via the vin number through the the connected drive web site, then go on the App Store to see if you are presented with the ability to order/install? Could someone test this or has already tried?

I am trying to get the dealer to confirm the I drive version/release in detail with UK BMW but the confirmation was just "yes it's coming" which is different to red baron's screen shot! I am looking to buy a in stock car, not yet registered so I'm worried that it's not had something actually installed in the factory, I.e. Is it just a software upgrade/install.

I am registered and it does not present the option for me. I am in US and bought a car in stock from my dealer back in March so I likely have older software than redbaron.

If redbaron can post his software version, I can see if it's the same as mine.

Buy a car built after wk27 - as it is stated above.

If built before you have to wait till they roll out the software update and enable purchase in your local app store.

Beyond this - I think I was lucky - the official launch date is 1/9/16

My car was 2016 750xi US version, I m living in California, fully equipped, I want the carplay so much.

you were lucky purchased 2016 7series but can update to Carplay?

its wk29 build 2017 model. Not that it makes any difference - except car play and soft close doors...

will post some more pics - its back now from being modesta'd. Sadly hammering down with rain..
