Autobahn Package

And just like that, the Autobahn Package is again available on 760i and potentially other non-M70 models for MY2024 builds. Can’t say I’m entirely crushed, but definitely mildly annoyed for my own build 😂

Hugely disappointed mine didn’t come with at least active roll stabilization. Was a big selling feature but kind of false advertising when they first came out. All the demo’s had them for the reviews but they were then reserved only for th M70. Pretty sure it would feel much more like a BMW with this

Then you are one of the few. Many thought they were getting it with that package but it was one of those convenient supply chain issues excuses and didn’t cone with many exec packages. Not saying you but many think they have it but don’t.

Mine said that too when I bought it and the dealer was wrong. I made them knock off $3,000 when I realized I wasn’t going to get it anywhere else on a ‘23. You’re one of the lucky ones. Not sure if you need to double check but when I put it up on a lift, BMW was floored it wasn’t there. Spec said it had it.

Agree with you in this. They did a one over on early buyers. The original executive package had Active Comfort Drive with Road Preview AND Active Roll Stabilization. Then the Executive package got dumbed down to Executive Package 2 when they had supply chain issues. On the 2024 MY i7 you could not even get Active Comfort Drive with Road preview coupled with Active Roll Stabilization on the exec package, as this was saved for the M70s and now they rolled it into the Autobahn package…WTF!. I will say it definitely makes a difference having been in an X7 with the DHP package that has both of those features. You were smart to get 3K back. If you spent 6 figures on this luxobarge you want the best ride quality available IMO.

I specifically bought used at the time because I really wanted the exec package with the auto doors and active roll bars, but whole exec pkg was removed on everything I looked at, even nationally. No one had even auto doors when I was looking. When I finally found one with every option available and the exact color I wanted, it was advertised with full executive package including the roll bars and was barely used cause the owner was upgrading to the i7 M70. A good sign I thought that he loved it that much. Jumped on a plane same day to Dallas.
As I was signing the papers, for peace of mind I asked are they sure? They said yes but I asked them to put it on a lift and take pictures. They were genuinely baffled that it didn’t have it, yet the spec sheet clearly said it did.
(Pretty easy to see on a lift but they looked for it for a long time and couldn’t believe it.)
They apologized profusely and because I knew there were none available and I had really negotiated a very good deal at this point including shipping, and I really needed a car as I had sold mine privately, an extra $3000 off sealed it for me.
I’m hoping none of you have a similar surprise thinking you have it! If you do I’d negotiate for something to make up for it for sure. Hope I’m not opening up a can of worms with guys who think you have it and really don’t. Mine may have been a one off.

I’m still very happy with the car but the active roll bars I’m pretty sure would’ve been the icing on the cake for this car to be perfect with a more BMW-like sporty ride and handling in corners.

I to originally ordered the Autobahn Package in June '22 only to be told several weeks later it would not be available.I was very disappointed and briefly thought about canceling the order.Glad I didn't because I love my 760i.It would be interesting to know if anyone has done a direct driving comparision of the standard suspension vs. AP in the G70 to see if there is a substantial difference. Please weigh in if you have.Thanks.

I haven’t driven a G70 without it but I drove many G12s with and without it and special ordered mine to have it and my current G70 has it. The car remains completely flat in corners while maintaining the capacity to fully absorb a bump within one suspension motion cycle. It is extremely pleasant and feels like magic. There is absolutely no head toss in the car. On paper the system seems similar to the system in the G12 but in execution feels a lot more refined and effective even though they were both 48v. It may have to do witht he beneficial pairing of the low center of gravity of the electric power train compared to the motor sitting high up and up front in the old car.

Thanks for the insight.Hopefully,it will be available when I'm ready to do something. On a sidebar, the new active suspension Porsche Active Ride system to be available on Panamera hybrids looks to be a game changer.Want to drive one when available. The Panny is a great handler but just not as comfortable and quiet as the 7er.Enjoy!

After having driven my 760 a bit, I can’t really tell how much the Autobahn Package can really improve this perfect ride. Once the wife’s X7 gets here, I will have to do a comparison test.

It’s a night-and-day difference when it comes to lateral head toss and cornering stability.

The lack of body roll when driving even around gentle corners becomes immensely evident when driving a vehicle with and without the sway bar technology right after another.

If you’re happy with a vehicle without the package, I strongly recommend you not operate one with the package, lest FOMO set in 😇

Since the X7 will have it standard, I have no choice 😂

I had a similar feature (Active Body Control) on my Mercedes, but the 760 ride is still superior in every way. When it comes the time to refresh, I will unquestionably add it if still available. I’ve also heard that it does help a lot more on the i7 due to the higher weight and different center of mass.

That’s awesome to hear. I’ve yet to be in an X7. Looks like a fun tank to pilot!
