My dad went form a 2010 750xi with 18" Eagle LS2s to a 2012 750xi with 19" PZeros to a 7016 750xi with 20" PZeros. The 2010 and 2012 were both very quiet with virtually no outside noise. The new car is noticeable less isolated from outside noise, tire noise is much more noticeable in the new car, as is the exhaust note. I've driven both and I agree, the new 7 seems to be less isolating from the outside world compared to the last generation.

I agree, in a 7-series there should be no road noise. Exhaust sound when you put your foot down is OK, but cruising down the highway should be as close to silent as possible.
