New 2018 Camry Looks and Sounds Sic

Toyota has been trying to make the Camry cool for many years and they may have finally achieved something special with the latest iteration, especially in XSE V6 trim. The aftermarket for this thing is taking off, though most of the pieces are cosmetic and one off jobs, maybe some exhaust kits. Never thought I'd live to see the day when this car might actually be considered cool and an alternative to an Audi or BMW for half the cost. Thought I'd attach some vids below from SEMA:

I've seen a few around lately but only the highest trim level looks good. Been thinking about getting my mom one for her birthday this year

I have a 2018 SE 4 banger and it is perfect for a commuter car. I commute in Bay Area traffic so it's fuel economy and it's ability to stream higher fidelity music through bluetooth than my M3 are two most appreciated things. It does make the most of it's power and it handles admirably for a family car. There are obvious cost cutting at places and the key is stupid bulky with it's flip out feature. It is no BMW, but it's easy to run and does the commuter role better than my M3. I also have to say I have it in Galatic Aqua and it is hands down better than most BMW colors, especially when it has paint corrected and had Opticoat applied to it.

Picked up a 4 banger XSE in December for the wife in Windchill pearl with black painted roof and red interior. For a commuter car it is outstanding, handles good enough and feels quick enough for what it is. And for the price we paid, we are more than happy with it. Lots of tech and interior is really nice for the price tag, best of all I get to save some money by not having to pay for a more premium vehicle lol!

It's sad when we have the Camry Toyota's fastest and sportiest car.

I do admit the new Camry looks pretty cool, for a Camry.

Looking forward to seeing the new supra. Will it only be sourced with an automatic transmission and German motor?

For the detractors, a Malibu, an Impala, and even a Super Sport used to also mean something, but times have changed (unfortunately not for good); but I like the direction this Camry is going in. Not bad.

I take that back, after looking at the specs on the SS. But I feel that the Camry is pushing in the direction of the SS. At least it does not have that Lexus grill; that would surely kill it. Either way, it is just different strokes.

Maybe you're right, because I don't see the SS/Malibu in any of the top 10 or 20, but I do see the Camry way up there. So which is it?

The SS is now no longer made. You are comparing apples to orange, man. Goodnight

The very first shot is putting on a fake muffler tip. WTF. The Camry has never looked so cool honestly. They just need to back it up with an actually engaging car and lose the poser factor.

The "Bangle-Butt" similarities are striking. The guy was so many years ahead of his time.

Think this Camry well sell very well.

Yeah, not really sure how the Camry is pushing in the direction of the SS - the Chevy SS?!

For sure, Toyota is making an attempt at the sporty sedan market, with the fake quad exhaust, fake intakes and vents, but a real 267 lb.-ft. torque 3.5 liter V6 and paddle shifters.

But to compare it to the 415 lb.-ft. 6.2 liter V8 RWD Chevy?

I take it back. I know wrong when I see it, and must hand it to you guys that you guys are right. While the Camry is a better seller, that does not make it an SS, or near it. I was just going on the looks of the car, which may be subjective, as everyone has different tastes. My bad.
