Exclamation FEAR The Walking Dead! (New Series)

Off to a great start last night! And I really like the scope and origins setting this series is bringing. Many more characters and we get to see things prior to outbreak.

Watched yesterday's episode...not bad...going to be a little slow at the beginning as they plot out character development. I'm liking Nick's character, very resourceful. Reminds me of Glen, but strung out...

Oh shoot, thanks for the heads-up! I had completely forgot about this show, I'm sure they'll be showing it over and over the next couple days so I can DVR it.

Thanks again!

Origin storylines are always tough, and TWD kinda forced everyone into the fray....I think this one will accelerate quickly as the 5hit hits the fan and chaos follows.

I was waiting for Rick to pop out somewhere.

Seriously I did enjoy it and I'm in it for the long haul.

Thumbs up

Well apparently... The masses have spoken...

‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Becomes Most Watched Series Premiere in Cable TV History!!!

Quote:
Though many will not include The Walking Dead in the same class as AMC’s Breaking Bad or Mad Men, due largely to its genre and a lot of cry-babying about its diversions from its source material, the Robert Kirkman series belongs to the same upper tier of cable television as those more acceptably dramatic series. And in a rare instance, the series has only become more popular with viewers as it has become increasingly well-written and conceived; every season is more substantially thoughtful in its dramatic turns and more visually expressive. So, it’s ultimately not the biggest surprise that Fear the Walking Dead, the Kim Dickens-fronted spin-off of the original, proved to be a major hit this past Sunday with viewers in the key demos. What is a bit of a surprise is that it turned out to be the most watched cable premiere in the history of television, bringing in some 10.1 million viewers that watched live.

AMC is now home to three of the most watched series premieres in cable history, with Fear the Walking Dead squeaking by Better Call Saul, which currently holds the second spot in the rankings; The Walking Dead has held strongly onto its place in fifth on the same list. It’s a huge accomplishment, to be sure, and Fear the Walking Dead shows quite a lot of promise, even if I found the pilot a little too heavy on the ABC Family drama and low on thrills and style. That being said, and as AMC even admitted while announcing the record-breaking premiere, numbers on these things are hard to nail down and, considering the level of viewers who watch digitally or illegally, do not really give a firm sense of a series’ popularity.

In fact, news like the announcement of Game of Thrones‘ downloading record for the Season 4 finale was a far more telling number in terms of modern viewing habits than this. I’d love to see similar numbers for Fear the Walking Dead, to say nothing of shows like Mr. Robot and the soon-to-be-defunct Hannibal. For now, however, a round of applause is due to AMC for this success, and if this means that the great Dickens, to say nothing of Cliff Curtis, gets more roles and more attention, all the better.

I saw a lot of idiots on Facebook whining about how there wasn't enough action. No spoilers here (I mean if you have some common sense, then you can figure this out), but of course there won't be packs of walkers roaming the streets yet, the damn outbreak is just starting.

I liked the episode and will continue to watch it. It'll be cool to see how people go from not having a clue to slicing walker heads off like Michonne.

Nick seems to be channeling his inner Jim Morrison in that first scene. I bet he doesn't want her mouth near his pee-pee any more!

I might be hooked just on that one showing, more for the family dynamics than the walkers or evolution of the infection.

Right on. I haven't looked much into it, but I hope this series diverts from the comic completely. While I've enjoyed TWD immensely over the past five years, a lot of the show has been spoiled since I've read all the comics. I'd love to see a completely fresh take on the genre, so hopefully this is it.

*edit* the one druggie son started wearing thin on me tho...

The main characters: Female teacher - Did a great job in Gone Girl!

And her boyfriend is also a great actor.

Also nice to see the show tackle or at least show interracial dating.

After all these years. you'd certainly think there would be much more of what the world actually does anyway.

I couldn't care less what two people of two different races do. If I wanted to watch something political, I'd turn on C-Span or something. Zombie melee action with chainsaws and Katanas is what I want to see. Real life sucks bad enough as it is, let me enjoy my down time with some honest to goodness entertainment. TWD dead already has two gay guys (spoiler, one doesn't last long in the comics) and that lesbo chick Tara. We get it, edgy, blah blah. More of Daryl and Michonne please.

*Probably why I like Turner Classic Movies so much*

Hah, no. I don't think I could be any more polar opposite from that nutcake.

Just watched the show last night for the first time, and speaking of Nick, TERRIBLE CASTING. Are you kidding me, all I can think of the entire time he is on screen is Johnny Depp. He looks like Johnny Depp, he has the same facial expressions as Johnny Depp, he IS a young Johnny Depp. Terrible, terrible casting.

I do like the mom/dad characters, the daughter is a terrible actress and is more bad casting. I do like the story however, and did enjoy the show. My favorite part of the zombie genre has always been the start of the outbreak, and watching the virus spread etc. I'm hoping this show spends a lot of time on it, as in TWD series we don't see it at all (except for the occasional flashback).

The Johnny Depp thing just sucks though.

I just watched the episode last night and really enjoyed it. I did think the same thing about Nick; he looks like Johnny Depp. I don't think that makes it terrible casting though, because the kid did portray a strung out addict pretty well.

All I can think of when watching him is Johnny Depp. I love Johnny Depp's work so this is not a knock on him, but the resemblance is insane. It's bad enough he looks like him, but he ACTS like him. The exact same facial expressions, the smile, the goofy little shuffle walk that Depp has done in some of his films, it's ridiculous.

Lightbulb

Yeah, I can't take ANYTHING away from the kids acting. He played the shit out of that role. I guess druggies are foking annoying like that.
Not sure why his stupid ass would simply leave the gun he just used to shoot Calvin lying on the ground like that? Guess... Drugs.

I doubt his character has ever handled a gun before that scene. He wouldn't know what to do with it, having just killed his source and his friend, while heading into withdrawal.

I wouldn't kill the kid actors yet after 1 episode. I thought Carl was a little annoying shit, but he turned out to be a very good actor.
