What do you mean the isn't much wiggle room? N55 in 740i/640i and N54 in 335is and 1M produced more power and so will the B58.

It will not be 360hp and it will not be 300hp, I can tell you that much.
The 330hp guesstimate in the OP's post is very close to the actual power, but it's not accurate. That's all I can say.

What's so wrong with a motor that's around 330hp and has good torque numbers in a car that weights a few hundred pounds less than its predecessor? I predict that it will perform better and have much better fuel efficiency than now.

Had a chance to drive the new s550. Was very impressed by the car overall. Will wait to see what the new 7 series looks like but although I dislike Mercedes the car was very impressive.

Actually, no. I never published EU specs. Also, the info seems like a mix of what I can learn from my sources and what you can learn from yours. And the lack of clarity on diesels is surprising, because 725d with B47 and 730d/740d/750d with different versions of B57 should've been visible to their source alongside the gas engines. And, finally, I don't think there'll be a 730e, only a 740e.

Hmmm weird. The lack of diesels is what led me to believe your were the source. The power outputs are not from my source, since the B58 power is wrong. Also there are no plans for the G11 760i and 740Le was cancelled.

I think it's just a collection of data from forums plus assumptions.

I would bet on it. The largest engine is typically sold as the flagship in US.

I think the smart money is on the 740d or 750i, depending on your performance needs; that diesel is seriously no joke.
Amen on the diesel comment----the performance, gas mileage and overall experience of the new X5d is mind boggling----and this coming from a huge fan of diesels ever before I drive that one.

Cheers,

F12/F13 ends production in late 2018. There won't be a G15 until 2019

Funny how much BS you start noticing in auto magazines when you know the truth.

And I think you're right about the Spanish article being a regurgitation of the existing reporting here and elsewhere. I had thought it was something original when I saw HP numbers, but once you said that wasn't correct, there was nothing original left in it.

So following the last two comments is this article "BS" on the HP numbers?

A 4 cylinder 7 Series is going to be hard to understand I drove 730i before with its 6 cylinder V6 and it's not bad, and with this new turbo figures I guess it will be good but still hard on me

V12 will live that's the greatest thing!

I don't think that 730i will be available for US market. Makes no sense! A 6cyl engine should be the minimum available here.

How about 725d? There'll be such a thing in Europe.

Yes, US will have 740i/750i/760i.

Bingo! I agree wholeheartedly -- especially as an owner of an F02 740Li with the aforementioned 315hp engine (330pft). If the rumors are true about the G11/G12 7-Series shedding "hundreds" of pounds, the car would see a nice performance bump with carry-over engines from the F01/02 series, let alone a next gen six that produces 15 more horsepower (or more). There's nothing but upside with regard to performance here.

Selfishly, I'm hoping for a plug-in hybrid version of the G12 740. Sure, the battery and electric motor will negate some of the weight savings (bringing it back to F02 curb weight) but with the combination of the new I-6 at 330hp (15hp more) and the added hp / torque of the electric motor (whatever that will be), the car is going to feel much more powerful and responsive.

Clink... clink... <-- my $.02

Same here, except I drove the coupe (S63 AMG). The exterior styling of the car is incredible -- so sexy. Even though I drove the sports model, the only thing I really loved about the interior was the dash. Those huge dual TFT displays are simply amazing, and the Mercedes Heads-Up display has surpassed the quality of BMWs existing HUD -- at least from my experience, since I have the HUD in my 2012 7-Series and rely on it daily. The rest of the interior, unfortunately, seemed a little too fussy for my taste. Too much chrome and bling. I've always liked the understated luxury of BMW interiors (with their bias toward sport).

It will, indeed, be interesting to see what BMW is able to field in the face of competition from MB in the form of their S-Class.

For the B48 730i possible PS-numbers:
  • 251PS aka 185kw
  • 258PS aka 190kw
  • 265PS aka 195kw
  • 272PS aka 200kw

For the B58 740i/iL possible PS-numbers:
  • 326PS aka 240kw
  • 333PS aka 245kw
  • 340PS aka 250kw
  • 347PS aka 255kw

Because both engine also comes in the LCI 3er series, where some says an 325i with 231PS B48 is not coming as usual gap filler, I guess 258PS / 730i and 326PS for the 740i/iL are the most logical number to hold the PS-gaps between the car nearly the same.

A 750D Xdrive would be nice, I am thinking next year to replace the M6 GC CP.
I just can't use the power here in the UK.
