That line is still there, just the angle of the photo doesn't show it.

This side view clearly shows the same line.

I think the G is more muscular than the F, look how more flared the fenders are. The front is also much more aggressive. It doesn't have the "dog nose" profile the F had.
Yeah its there but not as pronounced.

The interior of the new 7 is getting rave reviews.

Everyone has their own opinion...mine is that I LOVE the new 7! I am not the biggest fan of MB but their designs have been looking better. The new S class is quite sexy!

However, I'm not sure if I like the new S or 7 better. I'm interested to see the visual comparisons and the head to head tests.

And no, I don't think the S-class looks better than this:
In this one photo with unusual lighting that makes it look like it has a power dome and sits 2 inches off the ground with no wheel gap, I agree it looks better.

Line is still there, it's just the angle of the picture.

I'm glad the G11's interior is much improved. IMO the F01 has just not aged well at all. It already looks pretty dated to me.

I will give you one thing: bmw are THE best brand at marketing. In that department all others follow. What do you the couple of bits of cf they slammed there was for? So they could claim "1st production car in the world with cf or whatever". If you think it was for weight reduction get some water and wipe the sand off ur eyes mate
The allegedly heavy gesture control is not an extra. It is always included. Many of the new features are part of the standard series. During the live presentation yesterday they repeated that without the new features the weight reduction would have been about 200 kg.
And with regard to Marketing: BMW knows how to maintain the image, but not how to market new features or technologies. They are actually very defensive
Audi has the best marketing, since they are always behind MB and BMW in most aspects, but everyone thinks they can compete with MB and BMW.
And MB is also extremely good in marketing. How else one could explain, why so many people believe that the S Class would be the best car in this segment.

the exterior didn't take much of a step forward. it looks like it's caught in between an LCI and a real refresh.

with the design that tesla, jag, MB is putting out recently, this is very conservative, especially considering how gorgeous the concept designs have been recently.

look at the profiles of the two cars, they are nearly identical (save for the hockey stick).

i posted this isn the main 7 thread, but just for kicks, take a look. this is what BMW is capable of. why we're not seeing something closer to this is beyond me:

BMW should fire their current designers. all going wrong...lost all identity.

The S Class isn't going anywhere. Somewhere in Germany, MB executives are laughing cause they know that the S Class will keep its crown in this segment.. Especially in sales where it really matters. All one has to do is look up the various models, such as the S600 Maybach edition, the S Class Coupe, and the S63/65 AMG models to know how much ground BMW needs to make up. MB is busy making ultra-luxury and here, we all getting excited over hand gesturing.
True.

Hand gesturing is for my android. And I still don't prefer it.

The S class is gobs of levels up from the 7 series. The E series 7 was ahead of that boat S class but the past 2 generations mb had just taken it to another level imo.

That unfortunately the only angle it actually looks good in.

BMW's ultra luxury car brand is Rolls Royce. The high end S class models are trying to compete with the various Rolls models. I highly doubt BMW will try to cannibalize Rolls Royce sales by moving the 7 series up higher than it already is.
that's like saying the luxury tiguan is a macan or the high end golf is a hurucan. lol

It looks amazing in M package. The normal one is ok. Still like it better as S class. But S class coupe is something else.

Does BMW have any plans for a coupe? M model?

1. At the front I prefer the previous generation, the design of the lights is more subtle.
2. In back prefer the new generation has a better design of red taillights.
3. Seen in profile I like the silhouette of the new generation, it is more elegant.
4. Interior design , I like the previous generation. Air conditioning vents were supreme.
5. The seat design is better in the previous generation. The design of the diamond-shaped seats of the new generation is strange.
6. Finally, the new generation does not look good in white.
7. I like the Arctic Gray for that car, it is a substitute for Space Grey and would also be good at Singapore Gray.

Would it be safe to say that the 5 series would look similar ?

+1. It looks more like a LCI than a new model. Pretty sure non-enthusiasts (like my wife ) would not even notice the difference looking at the car in the showroom. Better for me that I won't need to spend the money updating her car
