Denied Maintenance Records from Dealer
I have an '07 that I acquired from a private sale and went to a dealer generally near the city of original sale and was told what city the car was sold in and that there is a 'ton' of maintenance history on the car, but the SA refused to give it to me due to 'privacy laws'. He did however give me the recalled work list. Is this normal? Should I call BMW NA? I have a possible oil pan gasket leak and as I looked under the car I see that there is a broken bolt on the oil pan, which leads me to believe this may have been already done and done by BMW.

I've had the same experience in SoCal. The advisor will review the services/recalls/issues that were done or discovered but cannot provide a hard copy to leave with.

same thing happened when i asked the dealer about my 08. luckily for me the original owner left all of his service invoices in the glovebox. (unfortunately the 2nd owner didn't though)
