Well-deserved honor for Junior.

Glad to see Piazza make it as well, though he'll enter as a Met instead of a Dodger... Dodger management (Fox) screwed him, IMO.

Well-deserved for Griffey.

Interesting that Clemens and Bonds are moving up. Some of the writers that crucified them apparently have different views of them now with hindsight. Personally, I don't think either belong and I was a huge Clemens fan when he played for the Red Sox. I was at the game in great seats the first time he struck out 20.

Good for him. Living in Cincinnati now it is big news here (he grew up and played here also).

Does make me wonder when 99.3% of the people vote for something what the other .7% believe.

Because there are writers who believe nobody should get in 100% as they argue that nobody in history has gotten into the HOF 100% so they are tools IMHO. If only he didn't get injured he would have better numbers. Man did he kill the Yankees in the 1995 playoffs.

I had my tongue out for this card back in the day. IIRC it was worth $125 but now not even $3.

I remember going to baseball card shop to pay $9 for this cards when it first came out.

I agree. Baseball cards are too flooded, and grading system made the non-graded cards basically worthless.

I sold 80% of my collection (from middle school) around 1995-7 for heavy discount prior to grading system started to get initiated. I sure am not going to send rest of my cards from 80s and 90s to get graded at ~$10 each.

Mariano. Greatest relief pitching ever. I can't imagine he won't be close to 100%.

He then denied it for all those years and now he finally admits it. Every player in every sport knows that the one thing you can never do is bet on your own sport let alone your own team.

Now, nobody is denying how he played as a player and the records he has. But, he will never be in the HoF. He doesn't deserve to be just as all those cheating assholes like McGuire, Bonds, Clemens, etc.

Dan Lebatard, emphasis on tard openly admitted not voting for Jr. He should relinquish his voting credential.

Edit: I stand corrected. His vote was stripped for giving it away to Deadspin a couple of years ago....rightfully so!

X2 (and living in Cincinnati). Biggest rule in baseball is don't bet on baseball and if you do you will be banned for life. He understood the rules and decided to do it, not once but ongoing, then denied it for years until he decided to cash in on a book.

I also understand a lot of rules and the consequences that come with them and have decided to not cross the line. If I do I won't be crying about it not being fair.

I don't want him in HoF for his managing skills. We never stopped to see the Hall when I traveled with my parents. I won't be stopping with my kids since Pete isn't there.

As was later discussed, all the Roid boys get a chance to be put in there, and they lied every bit as much as Pete, but not about his abilities as a player.

Agreed. I don't think the Roids boys will get in either. They may have moved up, but you have to remember who votes. Usually old time guys who detested that whole era. Time will tell, but I hope none of them make it in.
