Maybe someone likes 320i relative to M3/4 PER bucks. I do have a preference , and I have reasons why I drive cars I drive now.

I remember when I was 18 and driving my Rsx-S, some kids threw a bbq sandwich all over my front window when I went into Meijer's with my buddy.

A fucking perfectly good bbq sandwich. What a dildo that guy was.

I guess I'll join in the 6 spd vs DCT and say that there's no difference between the two other than the glaring fact that those who drive DCT sit when they pee

I think it also depends on how you conduct yourself. I have a friend who owns a nice 991 911 Carrera S that he autocrosses and everybody just loves him at different events.
I think it's bc he's a genuinely nice guy, down to earth, humble. He's not every two seconds trying to prove that He's arrived and He got money.
Your average Suburban is over $65k, no hate because most Suburban owners arent cocky assholes that walk around like they own the world.

Personally, I get cars because I like them, even if it has to be an older model. It may not have the newest, latest and greatest features, but my 9 year-old E90 is still way more satisfying than having to dump the same $18K into a decently equipped new Corolla.

But it still amazes me that some people still use cars as a way to judge people; I've gotten dirtier looks than usual from homeless people when I say I don't have money on me (and unless homeboy has a card machine, I genuinely don't carry cash), I've gotten a rebuttal to a bad Yelp review at a hotel that said "he drives a BMW and doesn't need to be here" (so does that mean if I have an E90 I can automatically have a discount or be able to afford staying at the Ritz-Carlton?), and when the E90 has a minor engine fault or something else happens, the first thing people want to say is that I should sell my car, or the same happens when I say I don't have the funds needed for something... When I am willing to bet all of my net worth that they won't say it if I had the aforementioned Corolla.

Also, cars as a status symbol can be horribly inaccurate; I've known one lady who had an Aston Martin DB9 but was living off of savings and small odds and ends (but it was ONE SICK CAR to drive before it got repo'd ), my friend's roommate drives a brand new Porsche Cayenne but rents a room in a squalid, filthy house of bad neighborhood; on the other end of the spectrum, I've met a CEO that drives a Ford Ranger pickup even though his wallet size is in the multi-millions, and Warren Buffet is still happy with a standard-sized house and a Lincoln Town Car when you bet top dollar I would get the sickest house money can buy and collection of Italian/German cars if I had his money.

I don't get much hate for having a BMW or whatever. Probably because everyone and their grandmother drives one around here.
