Smile Our New Home is Nearly Complete...!

Started building in April and what an exciting and blessed time it has been for my family and I! We are but a few weeks away from completion.

Highlights: Movie Theater - Lounge - Custom Pool

Pool construction will begin immediately after closing as the home builder will not allow 3rd party construction on site while they are still working. But here is the concept drawing of our personal design:

Nice house! For the plants surrounding the pool, I'd make sure to get plants that don't attract bugs/bees.

Nice. Looks like some serious sq. footage.

Thanks! That is a VERY good suggestion! And being the "landscaping guru" I am, I have already discussed this with my current landscapers about this. We will include some Beautyberry, Creeping Lemon Thyme and Bay Leaves.

Thanks Rick! It has been all about "priorities" for me over the last couple of years. Sure... I've wanted a new ride and there was a time where every 3yrs, I'd grab one. But my F0 has been paid off now nearly 2yrs and outside of the much publicized CCP that BMW performed on my car, it has been solid. And honestly, I prefer the looks of it over the G12. I still enjoy my car and have put family and our new home above my wants. It is literally our Dream home. One that we will have plenty of space for my boys as they become young men, eventually parents and we become grandparents!

Stunning house, Love what you're trying to achieve, but why timber frame when we're in the grip of global warming, and why the hell do you NOT want to attract bees!? Given that we have a current global shortage of bees, they are surely the most important creature to attract given how much you love your meat. Remember, without bees, you have no meat.

It's not my problem if your new shiny house blows away in a storm, but the world certainly needs more bees and meadows to attract bees. If you like eating meat, you need bees.

Thank you.... I think? Let me address your very valid points: Brick and Stone over Wood Frame in this area is not only common but probably 99.9% standard. Our current home is 16.5yrs and uses the same general construction (albeit much less Green than our new home). I have never had any issues here including foundation. This area I live in is not prone to tornadoes, hurricanes or earthquakes. So that is generally not a build concern here.
As far as bees. I actually do not mind and will encourage bees by planting several fruit bearing trees: Orange and Nectarine and Peach. It's the foking mosquitoes and common fly that I hate! I have experimented here for years. And I have come up with what I believe will be a nice balance.

Very nice, living the life. Also nice to see that you included FAMILY in your thread. Unfortunately these days it seems that family and friends is an afterthought for some, clearly not with you TXSTYLE . I do have a question, what are you doing as far as technology in the home? Is it going to be future proof? I find it fascinating when I read about how many miles of cable/fiber optics etc... are being run through high end homes being built today.

I appreciate that acknowledgement. I would be nowhere without my beloved family! They are my heartbeat. Everything I do and decide is with them in mind.

I am a "tech fan" no doubt! I will incorporate some Smart Home features but honestly, I have concerns about having my home too reliant on technology and over connected to WiFi. Let's just say I am implementing some Smart Features but still want my house to be a home.
My primary focus will be some absolutely badass Furniture with particular focus in my Home Theater, Lounge and Kitchen. Because I love Movies. I love to cook and eat. And my wife and I love to entertain entertain with house parties and cook outs.

Very nice! Congratulations!

You did a lot of custom work to your old house pretty recently, did that help much with the sale of yours over other houses in the area?

Are you looking into solar, by chance? I have a friend building a home and they are taking a hard look at adding solar panels. Personally, I'm not entirely sold on the investment, but they are more feasible than they were in years past.

Absolutely it did! I couldn't recall if I ever posted my 'Lounge addition and remodel' in our current house? But it and the fact that new carpet and tile was installed not that long ago, the amazing 8ft Privacy fence, 3 car garage, and location and schools, all added great value!
