7 series vs. M-B S

Are there any reports/ comparison reviews between 7 series and M-B S?

BMW wins because of ride comfort, almost perfect engine/transmission and on costs.

Here are some screenshots from the iPad magazine app:

Nice article but all i can make out is that they gave 7 series more stars in design and temperament##**?.I like the overall design of the 7 but i think the s class looks better[the interior is overdone though].The s class interior personally looks like a nightclub/first class cabin...which in my opinion is wrong in a car.If i had to feel like spending time in a first class cabin i would be in a flight not a car.A car has to feel like a car.

The latest 750li (2013 and 2014) have significantly improved ride qualities. My 2011 750li was a dog. It was loaded, but she was more akin to a tractor than an a refined car.

The ride quality between my '13 and '11 is so significant. Neither were sport, but the '13 has ARS.

The funny thing is I shopped the S before picking up my '13 750li.

My wife and I were blown away by the S. It was like night and day. I couldn't understand how much better the S drove than my '11 750li.

But, in the end my loyalty stuck it out with bmw based upon the brand. We were both shocked and most pleasantly surprised that the '13 750Li drove nearly every bit as good as the S.

Could ARS make that much difference? I am a loyal bmw purchaser, but a complete moron when it comes to driving a car---but even I could sense the difference.

Yep, MY13+ LCI cars had major rework to chassis. Watch BMW's vids on YouTube from the St Petersburg LCI launch. Very impressive improvements.

I'm not a huge fan of the styling cue Mercedes has taken in the last couple of years. First it was the new SL which Mercedes ruined and now the S class which I don't find appealing at all. I agree with the interior as well, the dash looks like a huge ass iPad pasted together and than you have the new smell kit or whatever Mercedes is calling to make your cabin smell "good", I find that a bit tacky. And it speaks volumes about BMW design and their current lineup for a 5 year old car like the 7 Series to still look fresh compared to the new S class model

With all that been said, one thing were Mercedes is winning is on the performance end. The performance numbers on some of their AMG models is down right astonishing. That's were BMW needs to start focusing on especially on their M models.

Their move to AWD on their AMG models was a smart move.I am glad BMW is considering an AWD option in the next gen M5.Better be late than never. The lack of AWD was one big reason i turned away from the M5.All that torque and just the rear wheels would be a disaster in my scenario.

I drove the w222 the other day and it is an impressive car. However, it may just have too many electronic gizmos. It seems that they have tried to invent features to answer questions nobody asked. For those of us who enjoy driving, I think the 7 is still the better car.

You just summed up my thoughts on the new S.

It would be nice if someone could compare the Audi A8 to the 750.I did not even bother test driving the A8 as the styling seemed more sedate.I might give it a try before i pull the trigger though.May be.

The current generation A8 and Jag XJ have the advantage of the lighter chassis.
Porsche Panamera is still on top when we take into account driving dynamics.
BMW has a good overall presence, a great updated V8 paired with a very good transmission.
The next one (G series 7) will be much lighter and will have much better dynamics than the actual model.
The new S is a luxury cruiser, but the interior styling is somehow wired. At least from my point of view (31yo), for sure the customers of the model are a little bit older than me

yes...the interior of S is absolutely a deal breaker...nothing makes sense from design aspect of it in 21st century (2013/14)!
But I want to wait for 7's next gen, I think it will be a crusher...
