So the F80/F82 DCT also has this? I may actually be test driving a Sakhir F80 DCT(!) tomorrow with a buddy of mine, he had just gone yesterday and given it a go and said it oddly behaved similarly to a 6MT.

Does it roll back in neutral, etc? jtodd_fl I guess you could let me know, too, should you feel so inclined.

Make sure you test out the kickdown + downshift feature

And no, it does not roll backward when you come to a stop

Interesting! I remember the SMG in the E46 M3, I drove one of those and was really disappointed in how dim-witted the whole thing was.

I drove a DCT in an E90 M3 and it behaved oddly, also. You could like, blip the throttle before starting the move forward, it did roll a bit on inclines, etc. There was no brake resistance on flat ground.

He did say that the DCT was horrid in traffic though, on the test drive; jumpy, sputter, sensitive throttle. Of course, I know the Sport & Sport+ modes are not adequate for traffic, most likely.

You've never driven a DCT? It's awesome. Solid trans for sure. I just prefer the enjoyment I get out of driving a 6MT.

Lol in the post right before yours I talked about my experience with an older DCT.

And absolutely, it's not even a debate concerning my own personal car, it is definitely going to be spec'd a 6MT. But I would like to get a feel for the torque and linear delivery/steering feel of an F80.

He had great things to say about the acceleration. For a stock car, he says he hasn't really experienced such a smooth onslaught of power before.

...I once went 6 over. Hands started shaking from the excitement, so I put it back into Eco-Pro and went back to the posted limit.
