99 740iL as a daily driver?
Hello, I'm currently looking to get something as a cheap dialy driver and I stumbled across a 99 740iL with 146,000 miles on it for $6,000.
I wanted to know if this would be a good daily driver or if it would be more trouble than it's worth. I don't know what the track record is for these, nor am I terrible mechicanically inclined. My daily commute is a little over a 100miles round trip (50 there, 50 back), so it would defiinitley get a work out. A friend of mine back home has a 93 740i that has 270,000 miles on it and he loves that thing and he says it has been too much of problem. Now if he lived out here I'd get it it cause I know he would know how to work on it, but I'm a bit leary as I really don't know anyone (yet) around here that would know how to work on it if somethign happened, and then I'd get goughed taking to any dealer I'm sure. So any thoughts, opinions, facts, recommendation, etc would be appreciated Thanks Oh here's a pic of the one I'm looking at:
