It's not bad we still need to see better pics, the interior looks way better IMO, like the contrast stiching.

But honestly Idk why BMW always is so conservative, they really could've flared up those fenders a little and added more curves, it looks too bland, esp that 4th pic showing a rear 3/4 shot.

Hmmm that must be why the 7 is second only to the S class in global sales.

And how close is it to the S Class? As a percentage of total sales, the 7er is much less important to BMW than something like the XJ is to Jaguar.

Now more than ever, I know my next BMW will be an Audi.

This is a ridiculously under-achieving design future for the G platform.
Despite a mildly-visionary concept with Pinninfarina last year.
I am very disappointed.

Audi Prologue and Merc's S Class are miles ahead of this drivel

i think you guys are missing the point. All the negative commentary is pointed at how bland this looks. If you wanted "exciting" then get the 6er and if you need 4 doors then get the 6GC.

Personally? This is a clear update to the current body style, and it looks very very mature, which is the demographic looking at this.

I have a larger issue with the designs across the board all looking the same. This is probably wider, but i could've easily mistaken this for the updated A6 rear with rectangular tailpipes....

But irregardless of that, new headlights are angular and flat bottomed - Laser Head lights which US wont get, but it's very very clean. This will sell if it's as smooth as the S550 or A8 as well.

Wasn't this new G11 supposed to get an all new 9 speed DCT?

I'll be curious to see how integrated the new dash is - also if any new iDrive features debut

I think it looks very classy, it will cater to a specific market. The car has not been PDI'ed yet lets judge it when the official press shots come out.

Looks like the same lower fascia as the LCI 6 fam, can't wait till official pics. Interior still isn't anywhere near as nice as on the newest S-Class but still a nice step up

A lot of comments about needing to see Msport.

Honestly, don't you guys get sick and tired of every single BMW needing the same old tired Msport treatment (same damn bumper regardless of if it's a 1 series or an X6 to boot) in order to not look like complete ass?

It would be nice if BMW could make something that stood on its own in the looks department without the same hammered to death Msport package recycled 5 million times for every model.

Anyway the outside looks like a boat, the inside looks like a 320i. I'm sure Scott will be along soon to tell us how the 7 isn't comparable to the S class and A8, and how it's a "driver's car" with it's 4-banger engine (lol), as if that's somehow an excuse for lack of quality materials on a $100k car when the W205 C class craps all over this in terms of interior materials.

What is BMW thinking? Who is actually going to buy this? No enthusiast wants a 5000 lb car with a 4 banger, and nobody who wants a luxury car is going to put this above the German competitors in the price bracket. Yeah this car might start cheaper than an S, but it's very quickly going to be north of $100k with the options a car at this price point should come with standard.

Talk about a New Year Gift Bomb! ;-)

Seems current pictures don't do the car justice!

Evolutionary wise the lines still look good!

And I still see the current interior design of BMWs to be more practical and functional than the new Mercedes one, which just looks sleek but not practical!

Maybe it's not done....

I really wanted to see a new interior design philosophy and more aggressive styling, not just chrome and a few bumper ripples.

Edit 1: God is that rear end bad, not as bad as the bangle butt, but bad.

Edit 2: Puma1552 - absolutely correct!

Edit 3: Emana is also absolutely correct!

drivel? These are not even official pictures and no specs have been released. How can you judge so quickly? If you value style over substance, than you should be more than happy with an Audi...which it sounds like you wanted to get regardless of what the 7 looked like. More power to you as the prologue was hugely underwhelming.

Hello guys,

Could BMW be fooling us.
Maybe this is the new 5-series G31 instead of the new 7-series G11

100kg is for the 5. It has been stated numerous times the 7 series will lose 170-200kg (370-400lbs). Also it won't be because of 4 cylinder engines, it's because if the new chassis that will have CFRP, aluminum, and high strength steel. The Q7 lost so much weight b/c they transformed it from an SUV on an archaic VW platform into a crossover on a car chassis lol, and it's pretty ugly.
